Mrs Sue Winfield CVO OBE - Final presentation of Lord Lieutenant's Certificates for Meritorious Service
In presenting her Lord Lieutenant’s Certificates for Meritorious Service to members of the Reserve Forces, Cadet Force Adult Volunteers, and Proficiency Awards to members of the Cadet Forces, on Tuesday 22 March 2022, Mrs Sue Winfield, Lord Lieutenant of Tyne and Wear and President of the NE RFCA, said the evening was “tinged with sadness” as this would be her last Lord Lieutenant's Certificate Presentation ceremony before she stepped down as Lord Lieutenant of Tyne and Wear on 18 May 2022.
Mrs Winfield said these annual presentations had always been a great honour and pleasure for her to carry out, highlighting the many achievements of the amazing people involved in the Reserves and Cadet Forces. Their unselfish dedication and enthusiasm never ceased to surprise her and she congratulated everyone on their awards. She thanked everyone involved in the event including Lt Col Neil Potter, Commanding Officer, Queen’s Own Yeomanry and Capt Richard Watterson, Director of Music, Band of The Royal Regiment of Fusiliers, and said she wished to extend her thanks and appreciation for all the assistance she had received during her time in office.
In thanking her Lord Lieutenant Cadets for 2021 for being such excellent ambassadors for the Cadet Forces when accompanying her on duties, she welcomed her newly appointed LL Cadets for 2022 and wished them well for the forthcoming year.
