A special occasion became even better when the North of England Reserve Forces’ and Cadets’ Association’s 800th Armed Forces Covenant (AFC) was signed by Mayor Kim McGuinness, the newly elected, first North East Mayor, at a ceremony held at the North East Combined Authorities (NECA) Headquarters in Newcastle on Wednesday 31 July 2024.

Cdre Tom Knowles RN, Naval Regional Commander for North of England and the Isle of Man, signed the AFC on behalf of the Armed Forces, with Col Peter Stitt, representing the newly formed Headquarters North, and Wing Commander David Prutton, representing RAF Boulmer, in attendance.  Also supporting the event was North of England Reserve Forces’ and Cadet’s Association Chair, Col Gordon Straughan, and Mrs Kate Simpson Vice-Chair Engagement.   An excellent event very much appreciated by all.
