On Tuesday 5 March 2024, Mrs Sue Snowdon, Lord Lieutenant of County Durham and Vice President NE RFCA, presented her Lord Lieutenant's Certificates for Meritorious Service to members of the Reserve Forces, Cadet Force Adult Volunteers and civilian staff from all 3 Services.

In her address, Mrs Snowdon said she "never ceased to be amazed at the achievements and selflessness of those receiving these Certificates". Other presentations included an Army Cadet Master Cadet Certificate and Army Cadet Force Four Star Certificates to members of the Cadet Forces and the appointment of her Lord Lieutenant's Cadets for 2024.

In welcoming her new Cadets she paid tribute to her outgoing Cadets, and thanked them for "all their efforts during what had been a very busy year and, on occasions, a sad one because of the Queen's death".   They had "....proved themselves to be excellent examples of the youth of today, leaders, and should be very proud of themselves".

Our thanks go to 8 RIFLES for welcoming us and hosting a great event, which included an excellent buffet, and also to the Royal Signals Northern Band for providing the much enjoyed musical entertainment for the evening.
